Be thankful for the moments in between the miserable times. Everyone has them, but some have too many and don’t seem to be manageable. A key word of the spiritual is awareness. In fact it’s the key word of all moving life for survival. With it is ‘discernment’ of your awareness. We as humans have infinite tests of awareness and discernment if chosen. When you are miserable you are a conformist with the endless pool of world misery.
Abdicate yourself from a throne of misery, and that throne is the ‘ego’, be it laziness or ignorance. Making choices without awareness and discernment is where the ego seems to wear the crown of illusion, selfishness, or just plain ignorance and bad choices. You know it’s wrong, but it’s much too strong to think about the unintended consequences. It’s going to hurt so much inside when consequences that you try and avoid come sneaking in to create misery. Misery perpetuates itself and makes no spiritual path possible if you lament or wallow in it.
Misery loves company. Today that shows up as undesirable groups causing havoc in burning and looting in many cities in America. Misery spreading misery to others, but the good and positive will prevail. Why be jumping on the bandwagon of misery that you cultivate and often bury with ‘addiction devises’? Some are saddled with the old saying of being, ‘too smart for your britches’. Many just can’t be alone with their mind.
The river can not go back. Nobody can go back. To go back is impossible in existence. The river needs to take the risk of entering the ocean because only then will fear disappear, because that’s where the river will know it’s not about disappearing into the ocean, but of becoming the ocean. The mind of negativity rarely let’s go of the lingering, obtrusive shrapnel that clogs the mind, and of course makes the heart distant so the troubled mind is on it’s own. Memories bring back memories that cling to attachment when they can still be there but no longer attached and an enemy.
