Not avoiding intimacy is having no reservations of total communication, in a total let go and an open heart is as rare as finding a needle in a haystack! Sad, but true, and yet nearly everyone want’s to be free of the constraints of holding back. Friendliness is not indicative of the lack of fear of intimacy. Trapped behind the bars of inner shyness is like being incarcerated. Another word for introverted with emotions is shyness or insecurity. Whatever it’s called, it’s fear of rejection by another if much is revealed and expressed, and not that you even know what emotions can be experienced.
Being ‘spiritual’ because you collect crystals, eat vegetarian, do yoga and meditation or can talk the spiritual talk is just fast food spirituality. Little substance – lots of intent so you can claim to be separate from the masses consumed by the material or whatever addictions. Claiming to be happy and loving yourself is likely only an intellectual demonstration that has no deep consequences of ‘walking the talk’.
Intimacy doesn’t have to be demonstrated with just anyone, but is a state of freedom with anyone who can receive and give it. Trying to be intimate with someone not able to receive or if you are not able to give unconditional communication is indicative of a human censorship that clearly can be a ‘life term locked in a prison’. Do prisoners ever communicate from the heart especially if they are locked in what’s called the ‘hole’ with no communication but with their own inability to search within themselves for the truth of who they really are?
Inability to flow in deep communication is an avoidance of reaching into the real you. Your mind and heart have fissures of light that can be opened into canyons of light in letting go to be able to express deep positive thoughts and feelings. The world is currently having the lights turned on to expose the darkest secrets that have always been hidden in plain sight. The 1960’s and ’70’s saw the lights turned on for those willing to see, in expressing the sexual revolution to reveal that both male and female had been living in a repressive Victorian age morality where the enjoyment of sex and love had been shackled for eons.
In these times, seeking a family, career, investments, and material happiness is very secondary to being free of negativities within. Life is a pilgrimage, and unless love is attained, it remains a pilgrimage, never reaching anywhere. Love only comes on crutches if you don’t let go and open the heart unconditionally!
