No Love for Workers

No Love for Workers

Millions have been in harm’s way of health and love of life where they work. Swept under the rug for identification and/or compassion of caring has been the ‘worker injury’ hidden problem. Over a hundred thousand workers die every year, and over a hundred thousand hurt in millions of industrial chemical involved occupations. Occupational disease is one of the most significant causes of premature death in the country. More workers die from illnesses they got at work by far than in car accidents. Many of the health problems involve a long latency period, then coupled with other environmental negative factors compounded with poor public ‘overseeing’ enforcement agencies of the government with financial problems and fear of job loss, the result can be a life impairment and shortening.
My interest in this was peaked by reading of a ‘worker/health’ activist, whistle blower by the name of Diane Wilson, who has written books, been on TV, and with a planned movie on her efforts to protect millions to some of the 750 toxins we all have to be aware of. Her initial interest was, as a shrimp fisherman in the Texas Bayou where she saw  incredible amounts of shrimp and all fish dying. It was found to be from pollutants from industries waste chemicals in the water.
Further investigation found a high early death rate of workers and serious health problems not to mention the millions who ate the food affected.
Who is to blame with greed and lack of loving compassion for workers, not to forget the general public? The ‘matrix’ of lack of conscious concern traded for ‘money’ involves egregious, mendacious   politicians, bad and unscrupulous lawyers (often becoming politicians), rogue pharmaceutical/chemical corporations (Monsanto, Dow Chemical, BP, Halliburton, Union Carbide, Formosa, etc.). The victims are you and I while our food supply contamination affects nearly everyone as GMO’s and pesticides are used for more money, and that uses us as guinea pigs.
Even in the shadows is the ‘religion clergy’ who some feel are significantly at the root of the problems in all society. These include priests and ministers, rabbis and imams — who are often accused of corrupting the major faiths of the world. With the profound cracks in the religious and philosophical foundations of society, the legal profession (via the political class) would then feel empowered to legislate poor laws, and self-serving rules and frivolous regulations. The ‘matrix of the seven deadly sins’ is inoculated by those who have the hidden ‘8th deadly sin’ which is ‘Acedia’, or to put it in another catch-all word, ‘apathy’. Of course, society itself embraces ‘apathy’ too!
Significant keys to a better life are ‘awareness’ (paying attention), deeper self love, and ‘discernment’ of all for the highest choices. The cure for ‘acedia’!
