Use Honey, or Vinegar?

You can catch more flies with vinegar than honey!! Always I’ve heard it said the other way around, and there is some merit in that idea, but for better results it’s been found that a certain combination of both has incredible health benefits! Too much honey puts people asleep, and just vinegar gives them indigestion. I’ve been accused with my soft ‘spiritual shock talk’ of turning some people off with what they see as acerbic ‘vinegar’ words, which are really ‘hooks’ that I use to catch the attention of some who intuit that there is some honey behind the ‘vinegar hook’!

Communication is a key to a more harmonious relationship, as well as a world that works better, but nearly everyone wears a mask that shoots out loud white sounds, or anger when conversing outside of their self imposed censorship of what they don’t want to hear. Knowledge and growing in maturity requires letting go of the mental and emotional constraints that each elect to entangle themselves in. Humanity tends to operate on snooze or cruise control for the comfort of what they know – even making friends with that which causes depression, angers, fears, and all sorts of pains.

Words sometimes need to be used in a fashion like a ‘Zen stick’ that is used to awaken the meditator who has drifted off into worlds other than awareness. People follow old cultural habits without questioning the limits of their meaning, and that which has lost its origins of intent. It happens that masses become like ants that follow a leader in an endless circle without breaking step. The intent of using ‘vinegar’ to awaken another must at the same time also come from ‘honey’. Whether the vinegar or the honey hits the mind first it’s all for stimulating and awakening the mind to discern the bigger picture.

To break the ‘mold’ that people encase their mind and emotions in will require what a Zen Master wrote;
A wealthy man requested an old scholar to wean his son away from his bad habits. The scholar took the youth for a stroll through a garden. Stopping suddenly he asked the boy to pull out a tiny plant growing there.
The youth held the plant between his thumb and forefinger and pulled it out. The old man then asked him to pull out a slightly bigger plant. The youth pulled hard and the plant came out, roots and all.
“Now pull out that one,” said the old man pointing to a bush. The boy had to use all his strength to pull it out.
“Now take this one out,” said the old man, indicating a guava tree. The youth grasped the trunk and tried to pull it out. But it would not budge. “It’s impossible,” said the boy, panting with the effort.
“So it is with bad habits,” said the sage. “When they are young it is easy to pull them out but when they take hold they cannot be uprooted.”
The session with the old man changed the boy’s life.
Don’t wait for Bad Habits to grow in you, drop them while you have control over it else they will get control you.

Time to dump excuses, and resistance in getting rid of old habits that are choking your joys and blisses of life! Make it part of your religion to open the mind and emotions to all possibilities!
